Scientists have been talking about the effectiveness of turmeric for years now. Researchers have compared the effects of turmeric and some medicines and found that turmeric sometimes allows you to reduce the dose of the medication or even completely replaces drugs. It is widely used in Vedic medicine.

Why Is Turmeric So Valuable?

As mentioned above, turmeric improves gastrointestinal health, digestive and absorption capacity, as well as the microbiome.

The main ingredient in turmeric is curcumin. Curcumin has anti-inflammatory properties, similarly as anti-inflammatory pharmaceuticals, but without side effects. It is also a powerful antioxidant and additionally stimulates and activates the antioxidant enzymes found in the body. Curcumin is 5-8 times more powerful antioxidant than Vitamin E and 10 times than Vitamin C. It also stimulates brain function, helps fight Alzheimer's disease and depression, and reduces cholesterol.

Although curcumin is much more powerful than turmeric in its properties, it is best to use it as turmeric. The herb as a whole will provide optimum healing effect and maximum exposure and uptake of all plant components.

    How to use turmeric?

Turmeric can be used in many different ways. However, it should be noted that turmeric has a bitter taste, but for those who enjoy it, turmeric will be good as a seasoning in stews and various dishes with lentils, delicious tea or the currently popular golden super-late. It is also possible to use turmeric juice "shots" or mix it with other juices, such as apple or carrot. It can also be taken as a dietary supplement in the form of a capsule or tablet.

To boost the effectiveness of turmeric, it can be taken together with pepper. Turmeric in the digestive tract is processed very quickly. Peppers slightly slow down this process, increasing the beneficial effects of turmeric.

Turmeric is fat-soluble, thus it is not properly absorbed without the presence of fat. For this reason, it is best to eat it with good fats like avocado, olive oil or coconut oil. That's why golden lates are so popular and valuable. They usually contain both plant milk such as coconut (which contains good fat) and pepper.

As with any other spice, you can be creative. Turmeric can simply be added to the diet by adding it to avocado on a toasts or our crackers. It can be added to breakfast porridge of a smoothie bowl (recipe).
